I've just plugged my mac back into my interface and Guitar Rig Kontrol after recording elsewhere, but when I go to click record in the Rig plug in track, a message comes up with 'No input source selected'.

In GarageBand for Mac, set the instrument or microphone input source for each track you want to record to. Choose Track Configure Track Header. You can also right-click on any track header or press Option-T. In the Track Header Configuration dialog, select Record Enable. Garageband has a feature that I both love and hate – normalization. If you love controlling the output volume of your podcast using Garageband, you’re going to hate it. Normalization takes over on export and adjusts your volumes to optimize (questionable) for playback. Choose the input source for your guitar In GarageBand on Mac, click Setup in the upper-right corner of the lesson window. Choose one of the following from the My Input Device pop-up menu at the top of the window. If you’re playing an acoustic guitar and using your computer’s built-in microphone, choose Internal Mic. 1) Make sure that you’ve selected the correct input and output options within your Garageband preferences to start. Usually, this part isn’t even necessary, but if your MIDI controller isn’t working for whatever reason, you can adjust these settings.

I've gone back and checked all the audio and project settings and it all looks exactly the same as before, and the guitar's plugged in fine. And the input bar in audio settings, set as Rig Kontrol/Fast Track out displays the signal - it seems to be 'selected'. Is there anything else I'm missing??

Before you can play along with a guitar lesson, you need to choose the input source for your guitar in the Setup window.

1. Click Setup in the upper-right corner of the lesson window.

2. Choose one of the following from the My Input Device pop-up menu at the top of the window.

   • If you’re playing an acoustic guitar and using your computer’s built-in microphone, choose Internal Mic.

   • If your guitar is connected to the audio input port of your computer, choose Line-In.

   • If your guitar is connected to a device connected to a USB port (or if you’re recording using a microphone connected to a USB port), choose the device.

   • If your guitar is connected to an audio interface (or if you’re recording using a microphone connected to an audio interface), choose the channel number on the interface your guitar is connected to.

3. If you’re using a built-in or external microphone, choose Off from the Monitor pop-up menu to turn off monitoring and avoid feedback. If you’re using headphones or playing an instrument, choose On.

   Choosing On from the Monitor pop-up menu may result in unwanted feedback. If feedback occurs, choose Off.

4. Drag the Input Level slider to set the input volume for your guitar, watching the level meter (the thin horizontal bar above the slider) to make sure the volume is not high enough to cause clipping (distortion).

5. Click Setup again to return to the lesson.
